The 1998 Doritos 3D commercial featuring Ali Landry, which aired during Super Bowl XXXII, is often considered one of the most iconic and memorable ads in the brand’s history.

In the commercial, Landry is seen at a laundromat, where she catches the eyes of two men, all three trying to grab each others attention by eating Doritos 3D chips in a playful and flirtatious manner. One of those men just so happened to be an unknown Sean Hayes, who was months away from being a household name due to his role as Jack McFarland on Will & Grace.

The campaign was a huge success, becoming a cultural phenomenon, capturing the hearts of viewers and propelling Landry to instant fame as “The Doritos Girl.”

The day after the commercial aired, the New York Post declared in a cover story “A star was born during Superbowl XXXII”. Later that year, she was named one of People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People”.

Following the success of the campaign, Ali, who was crowned Miss USA 1996, transitioned from modeling to acting with a variety of film and television roles; most recently in “Sound of Freedom” (2023).

The ad’s continued popularity and impact on pop culture have made it a classic in the world of advertising!
